So today, I was rocking out to the new JLo/Pitbull club banger, “On the Floor,” and between debating whether Pitbull was the SisQo or the Sir MixALot of this generation, I thought to myself, “Hey, this song sounds familiar.”
My young, hip assistant Styles A. Thomas informed me, that indeed, this song bore a striking resemblance to the 2010 Edward Maya hit “Stereo Love.”
Indeed, but that wasn’t quite it. Maybe this older version from a year earlier?
Nope, that’s not it. I dug a little deeper into the old Mr. Freeman memory banks, and remembered this 1989 Kaoma classic, “Lambada.”
The kids these days don’t remember Kaoma. Still though, that wasn’t quite the version I remember. How about Marcia Ferreira’s 1986 classic “Chorando se fui”…
